Creating Your Own PS Brushes by redheadstock Creating Your Own PS Brushes by redheadstock
Updated this tutorial so that it was an image rather than an inconvenient download. Same stuff!

Thanks, and enjoy!

This tutorial was made in Photoshop CS, but should work for 7, CS2, and CS3 as well. The steps may very a small amount, but nothing that you shouldn't be able to follow.

Ask me if you have any questions!

Thanks! I have been wondering how to make brushes for a long time xD
ShadowL1nx Featured By Owner Aug 18, 2011  Student
this is great, but i got a question. wont deleting all the brushes mean we wont have the rest on there anymore? or are we doing that just so we can save the ones that were just created? sorry, just a little confused on that. I have a lot of brushes on there that i spent months collecting lol, don't wanna lose all of them because of a custom brush if you know what i mean :D thanks in advance!
saowsaow Featured By Owner Aug 20, 2011  Hobbyist Digital Artist
if you are scared to lose your brushes you can always click the arrow -> replace brushes .. pick a brush set that has a few brushes in it.. that way if you lose anything it wont be your entire collection of brushes.

By the way RedHeadStock said that it WONT delete them as a file but just from what brushes you see in-front of you..

This is good to know! I never knew how to do this! :) Learn something new every day.

I followed the first few steps, but in Photoshop Elements 7, it doesn't have the "active" brushes thing, and when I closed and re-opened it, the brushes hadn't been deleted, so I think it work without the saving part.

windyfrost Featured By Owner Jul 12, 2010  Hobbyist Digital Artist
can I ask? How do you make a zip file to put the brushes into? or an ABR file?
AiShindou Featured By Owner Jul 22, 2010
Actually, I have this question too, thank you for asking.

I found this [link] when hunting the internet for an answer, and it seems to work though there might be an easier method.

horsepony135 Featured By Owner Apr 21, 2010  Hobbyist Digital Artist
I still don't get it. I don't know how to make a brush pack because if I try to make another brush my signature brush is still selected and I'm afraid it's going to get deleted before I get the chance to save it and I still don't get how you got to that 'save' box. Lol, too many questions in one sentance 0.0
