Seamless Textures in Photoshop by redheadstock Seamless Textures in Photoshop by redheadstock
This tutorial will explain how to create an entirely seamless texture in Photoshop. This technique was made to work for textures, not patterns (things with a distinguishable "design" to them).

Texture comes from: :iconladydove7-stock: (thank you!)

If you want to follow along with the tutorial, here's a direct link to the bark texture.

Oh. It's just an image. You can view it right here. Or, if you go to "download" it, it'll just show you the image for you to right click > save as... and put on your computer that way.

Hope this helps!

Great tutorial. Pretty much the same way I do my seamless textures.

One tip. Before you offset the image, go to your image size and view the pixel dimensions. Then when you go to offset, enter half of the pixel width in horz. box as positive and half the pixel height as negative.

So if your image is 512 x 512, your offset would be +256 horz. and -256 vert. This will offset the edges to center of the image and give you more room for cloning.

I do it about 1/3 of the way across, personally... but you're right. It DOES need to be a bit away from the edges. Thanks for the tip! :)

Glad to help. I did a ton of seamless textures for Second Life back in the fall. I found the centered offset was the easiest to work with. :)
